The Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center (SFCCC) offers Mandarin & Cantonese classes through weekday after-school, weekend Saturday morning programs and summer camps. Our mission is to nurture Bay Area youth and preserve Asian heritage.

SFCCC provides comprehensive Chinese language education in both Mandarin & Cantonese. Whether your child is aiming for fluency or just starting out, we have a curriculum designed for every level (K - 9th Grade). We offer beginner courses for those new to the language as well as advanced AP-level Chinese classes.

At SFCCC, we do more than teach a language; we offer a nurturing space for young minds to immerse in Chinese culture & develop into individuals of character. Join us on a fun transformative journey to nurture responsible and culturally aware youths.

  • Hi BPN, does anyone have thoughts/feedback they can share on the Chinese Saturday program at Shoong? i've read great things about the after school program and how children are able to learn Chinese through the after school curriculum. However, we're not able to enroll in that due to after school logistics. I was wondering if anyone can share any experiences of the Sat. program. The program description makes it seem more cultural/activities based vs language learning based. we're really looking for a weekend program where the kids can follow some sort of language curriculum. if there are programs you know of, please recommend as well.

    thanks!

Both of my kids (ages 9 and 11) attend this after-school and the summer program. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if they were going to enjoy the challenge of learning Chinese, but they had a great time. They learned Chinese, legos STEM, art, public speaking. They’ve had so much fun at Shoong. And the best part is that it’s a non-profit so the fees are low. This has been a game changer for our family. It’s in Oakland Chinatown fairly near to the bart but I also understand that they are trying to organize transportation from schools in Berkeley and Oakland this year.
