Huong Viet Language School is a private (non-profit and non-religious) Vietnamese language school. We accept students ages 4 and above (exceptions can be made for younger students). There are grade levels from Kindergarten to 6th grade.
My 5-year old started at Huong Viet this past 2021-2022 school year and enjoyed her class. The school is completely volunteer-run and her teacher Co Hoang was wonderful-- enthusiastic, patient and good with kids of all levels. The kids were a mix of those who are already fluent in Vietnamese and speaking it at home with grandparents/ parents, as well as kids from mixed backgrounds or 2nd gen parents who are English speaking at home (my case). The first year class covered the Vietnamese alphabet, pronunciation and some vocabulary.
The school also had special celebrations for the Moon Festival and Tet which my daughter loved.
We definitely plan on returning next school year. I've definitely seen progress with my daughter. The school (along with an app, Vietnamese cartoons on YouTube, music CDs) has made her excited to learn Vietnamese.
