Berkeley Youth Orchestra is a 100-strong youth symphony orchestra with a 50+ year tradition of nurturing dedicated young musicians, often in their first full-symphony experience.
My daughter has been participating in Berkeley Youth Orchestra for over two years and really likes it. It is often the first symphonic experience for most players so the environment is very supportive. The coaches are patient and kind but still hold kids to high standards. I also played in BYO 30+ years ago. It is great to know some Berkeley institutions still support youth in a positive way across decades.
