Yu Ming: accept or not?

My four year old was, somewhat unexpectedly, offered a spot in Yu Ming’s kindergarten class next year. If we decline, she would go to BUSD. I would love advice from any current or past parents at Yu Ming on the school culture, teachers, and administration.  

I know Yu Ming is strong academically but I find myself genuinely concerned whether it’s at the expense of fostering independence, balance, and joy of learning in kids. Class size is also a concern for me. I have also appreciated the cultural diversity of BUSD, its physical activities/campus, and its emphasis on socioemotional.
