Recycling Expired Helmets?

We have some expired bike and ski helmets that we would like to avoid adding to the landfill. Obviously we can't pass them along to anyone else. Google searches aren't yielding any helpful information about how else to dispose of these. Does anyone know of any recycling services that will take old helmets? Thank you!
