Choosing Material for a New Driveway

We have a fairly long, now crumbling, driveway, and need egress to be easy due to health issues. We are wondering if anyone has advice about cement vs. pavers: I like the look of cement with washed stones better, but have heard pavers are more environmentally sound? The price is about the same.
