Recovering from Bad Credit after 7 years

Has anyone out there lived through a seven year credit disaster? I had a foreclosure about 7 years ago and a lot of credit card debt that piled after that. It destroyed my credit report and I have basically lived with no credit for close to 7 years now. Can’t wait for the 7 years to be over so the debt falls off. I’m thinking of buying a house again. Anyone have experience with this? How is life after the 7 years? I’m worried that if all the history wipes off, then my credit age will drop and so will my score. How did your score improve over time? Any tips for what to do and how to improve my score ASAP? Or how to get approved for home mortgages after a foreclosure? Many thanks!!!
