Ohana Aquatics
I think that might be per month... we did swim lessons at Ohana and your quote seemed off, so I went to their website and it says group lessons are currently $33/class. We were basically happy with the classes there... but nothing spectacular. Both of my boys had their teachers leave after a couple months, and there was not a replacement teacher, so their classes were abruptly cancelled. Perhaps beware of teacher turnover. Our best experience with swim lessons was at Sherman Swim School in Lafayette.
We have been going to Ohana Aquatics off Redwood road. They are open through winter and have a "bubble" that goes over the pool to help keep it warm. The pool is also heated very warm. No Jacuzzi but the pool is really warm. Friendly teachers. Low key vibe. Only suitable for lessons/classes though, no recreational swim. Need 30 day warning to cancel lessons once you begin. Good luck!
My son learned at Ohana in Oakland hills: https://www.ohanaaquatics.com/swim-lessons. They have after school time slots. In the winter they put up a tent over the heated pool. I also liked the diverse staff. Recommend!
My kid (now 2.5) has been doing group swim lessons at Ohana Aquatics for about a year now and really enjoys it. We did have to be on a waitlist, but it didn't take too long to come off -- you just have to email them to remind them about you.
HI:
For private we have done Patti's Swim in Castro Valley. It's a bit of a drive from our house but it's 1:1 and you can actually schedule 1-hour lessons. The con is the price -it's really expensive. My daughter is at Ohana now. She LOVES her instructor and typically there is only one other child. I will say that there has been a lot of staff turnover so many lessons were previously cut. You can also book private lessons through Strawberry Canyon.
Ohana Aquatics in Oakland has a few spots - I just signed my 4 year old and 8 year old up for once weekly afternoon swim lessons. They're above Hwy 13, off Redwood close to Merritt College - it doesn't take very long to get there and it's always warm (and the pool is heated). All instructors are vaccinated.
We've been going to Ohana Aquatics since our daughter was 18 mos old (Minnows class). She loves it! They also have a waiting list though.
Big fans of Ohana swimming, off Redwood Road. Pack a lot into 30 min lesson, also have private options. Was recommended by family friends, my son enjoyed it.
We tried a number of swim schools, and by far had the best experience at Ohana up in the Oakland Hills. I know they are open and teaching, but don’t know about their availability.
If you're willing to drive to the Oakland hills I can highly recommend our swim school, Ohana Swimming. It's up near Merritt College. They have a non-competitive swim team that meets 3x per week (MWF 4-5). Your child can swim 2 days, 3 days, or you can also pay 1/2 price to have them do only one day per week. The price is right and so is the instruction. The coaches are fantastic! The kids have a blast while honing their skills. Contact me if you have any more questions.
