Finding afterschool care when starting in BUSD midyear
Hello fellow, Berkeley parents. My son will be starting at Oxford Elementary tomorrow (February 25, 2025) we are having a major challenge finding afterschool care for him. Does anyone have any advice or leads on afterschool programs that may have openings mid year? We’ve reached out to seven or eight programs around the city and no one has openings. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Hey - did you talk to Aaron Grayson at Oxford who runs LEARNS? He's pretty good about getting kids in but he's totally unresponsive to email. You could swing by the school and try to talk to him directly, or talk to Beth. Sorry if this is redundant info, but since I'm an Oxford parent with a kid in LEARNS, thought I'd reach out directly. My daughter is in 1st grade, Mr Danielson's class. Welcome to Oxford.
If your family is Spanish speaking, BAHIA on 8th St in Berkeley is a great afterschool program and has openings. You do have to provide transportation, but if you work remotely or nearby it is really quick.
