Starting Daycare search for 3-4 month old starting July 2025

Hi everyone, I'm new here, about to be a single mom, just moved to Grand Lake area in Oakland. I'm 30 weeks pregnant and will have about 3.5 months maternity leave, so I'm looking for a daycare starting July or August 2025 for a 3-4 month old. I'm open to any type of care that would fit these needs:

  • Location: close to Grand Lake neighborhood
  • Hours: Full-time care (8:30am to 5pm, M-F)
  • Age: 3-4 month old
  • Timing: July/August 2025 start

I would appreciate any advice on how to go about finding something. Any openings you know of for that young of an infant? Do I need to be calling/emailing anyone and everyone asap with this timeframe?

Thanks so much!

Just a tip that if you intend to send your expressed/pumped milk for them to feed you baby, and/or want to nurse on site at drop-off and/or pick-up, be sure to specifically ask and try to get a feel for how experienced and supportive they are with that. There are lots of resources for you (and them) online; search "breastfeeding friendly child care."

Hey there!

My now seven year old went to Bee Happy on Harrison Street in 2018, and continued there for two years before going onto preschool. We always felt super comfortable there and we knew she treated him like family and took great care of him. Her apartment that she ran the daycare from  was perfect for several infants and always felt cozy and full of smiles, laughter and fun times. We haven't kept up with Brenda as well over the last few years because we moved up to Albany, but have no doubts that  the quality of her care is exactly the same as when our bub was there.
