ISO Math Tutor for BHS Advanced Math II
Hello. I know this has already been asked this last August but the previous replies don't work for me. Having an especially difficult time finding the right fit for my daughter who is in Advanced Math II at BHS. It would really help if the tutor is familiar with BHS and the teachers so they understand the layout of the course and how it is being taught. And someone who works with advanced level students of high school age. Thank you!!!

Have you tried CalTutors or Classroom Matters?
Try caltutors.org
My kid was drowning in calculus and was feeling pretty bad about it and then started meeting with a caltutors tutor twice per week. his tutor helped him a lot and brought back his motivation in that class. The tutors are mostly UC Berkeley and Caltech students. The tutoring happens 1:1 over zoom.
OP here. She tried Classroom Matters but didn't have a good experience with the tutor they set her up with and doesn't want to try again with a different tutor. CalTutors doesn't appeal to me as I'd like a referral to a specific person so I can get a sense beforehand if they seem to be a fit. Probably not a present college student. So any others? thanks!
Hi there. I have had good luck contacting tutors through the cal math department website: https://math.berkeley.edu/courses/tutoring
I emailed a tutor individually that tutored high school math and set my teen up for the semester with one on one tutoring.
Good luck!
Try Kevin Weber. He’s an extraordinary teacher and math tutor. Saved my kiddo! Came to our house once a week for 2 years in high school. He’s a delight. https://kwtutor.com/
We’ve been collaborating with Daniel (link) over the past few months to help our high schooler with AP Math. His dedicated approach and exceptional guidance have been invaluable, and we highly recommend him.
Daniel brings years of experience teaching high school math in the Bay Area.
I am delighted to recommend Daniel Mayeri (daniel [at] mayeri-education.com). My son began working with Daniel during his freshman year at BHS, while taking advanced math, and continued through his senior year in AP Calc BC.
My son has always enjoyed math, but due to the fast pace of his advanced math classes, he sometimes felt unsure of his grasp on the material.
Here's what my son had to say about Daniel: "Daniel is great! He's passionate about math and genuinely interested in his students. He really seems to care and remember information about the person he's tutoring. He's a very good listener and understands not only how to help students clear up confusion, but also how to look at math concepts from many points of view so they can really 'own' the concepts. I never felt like I had to memorize math solutions. Because of Daniel I felt like I really understood how to solve problems."
I would only add that even though my son probably didn't need math tutoring all four years, he enjoyed his tutoring sessions with Daniel so much that we considered it an extracurricular activity. Now a student at Columbia University, he is majoring in applied mathematics.
