Enclosed porch - how to?
Hello BPN community. I am thinking about enclosing our porch to have additional jackets and gear in that space. Walking around I can see several houses that have changed their porch to this. Can people share their hints, tips and regrets on how this can be done?
We would not thermally insulate the area but would want to put up windows and a door. Would we need permits? What is a ballpark cost of this work? Is there a handyperson you would recommend for the job? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, you need permits (window installation on its own typically requires permits so an entire room certainly would). I would start with calling up your local city building department and speaking to the planner (or permit technician) of the day about your vision. They can point you in the right direction to stay legal and get you to a point where you can speak intelligently enough to get bids from a couple small contractors or licensed handypeople. You almost certainly would be looking at electrical work as well since you'd need more light in an enclosed space (probably).
