As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #147666), yoga teacher, and longtime Oakland parent, I offer counseling services tailored to families, couples, and individuals of all ages. My practice, Awaken Counseling, provides a nurturing space to explore the complexities of family dynamics, co-parenting relationships, and personal growth with honesty, skill, and heart.

Families come to me when trust has frayed, when conflict overshadows connection, or when change—planned or unexpected—requires new ways of relating. I help families and co-parents reduce emotional reactivity, repair ruptures, and develop the communication skills needed to move forward with clarity and compassion. My work is grounded in somatic experiencing, trauma-informed care, and conflict transformation, helping each family member regulate their nervous system and reengage with curiosity and emotional presence. I specialize in helping parents develop, navigate, and update separation and divorce agreements that center on the needs of children, as well as co-parenting plans and communication coaching around transitions.

As part of family therapy, I offer couples counseling for parenting partners who want to reconnect, restructure, or simply deepen their emotional safety with each other. I draw from the Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and attachment theory to support partners in shifting rigid patterns, building trust, and rediscovering their capacity to grow—both individually and together. Many couples also engage in embodied-awareness practices in session to explore the felt sense of love, conflict, and connection beneath the words.

Whether you are in the early stages of separation, co-parenting in two homes, nesting under one roof, or navigating a more complex structure, we work together to co-create parenting plans and relational agreements that reflect your family’s values. I also have experience supporting neurodivergent families, including children and adults with ADHD or autism, and tailor sessions to meet a wide range of sensory, emotional, and communication needs.

I welcome all family forms—straight, queer, blended, intergenerational—with warmth, respect, and clinical integrity. My lens includes somatic and attachment-based modalities, as well as structural and Bowen family systems approaches, with the aim of creating a family climate where honesty is possible and healing is shared.

Born and raised in the East Bay, I practice in a cozy office on Piedmont Avenue. I also offer Zoom sessions to clients throughout California. I bring deep attunement to the joys and challenges families face in our community and offer guidance that honors your inner wisdom while expanding your capacity to connect.

If you and your family are seeking support to navigate co-parenting dynamics, relationship shifts, or emotional healing, I invite you to reach out for a free 30-minute consultation.
