Six week groups meet twice a week:

Once a week for a facilitated conversation -

We do a check in to see how things are going, sharing highs & lows of the week and then we focus our discussion on a topic important to new moms

And groups meet once a week for an activity or outing -

This could be a meal in a cafe or brew pub, a walk, a visit to a postpartum mom & baby class, meeting in a park or at someone's home - these more casual gatherings really help with making deeper social connections and friendships & help with becoming more comfortable getting out and about with your little one

We plan these outings during our regular sessions each week

Groups continue to meet after the first six sessions, we plan for this shift to the group meeting on it's own during our last session to make the transition smooth

Most groups stay together for years once they begin!

Groups meet in the comfortable and convenient Emeryville offices of East Bay Lactation Associates & Loving Arms Birth And Parenting

Free, easy street parking & close to transit

We meet indoors with mitigations or weather permitting we can meet outsdie on a rooftop deck with umbrellas for shade

We focus on topics important to new parents: sharing birth, adoption or surrogacy stories; relationships, communication & sharing parenting responsibilities; returning to work - or not, finding childcare and others caring for your baby; practical concerns like sleep, feeding, comforting, establishing routines etc.; local resources, parent & baby classes, exercise options; identity; sibling & family adjustment .... and more

After each session I send out resources based on what comes up during our discussion

These are the longest running support groups for mothers in the East Bay

Started more than 40 years ago by Sherry Reinhardt in response to her own experience as a new mother

I did this group with my first baby more than 35 years ago and it was the best thing I did for myself as a new mom

That's why since then, this is a part of the work I do with expectant and new families, I really know the value of this resource!

You can read feedback from moms who have done these groups on Berkeley Parents Network & Google for business

Groups are facilitated by:
