The Coder School Berkeley: Still Space in Roblox Winter Break Camp (Dec 30-Jan 3)
Does your child love playing Roblox? Wouldn't it be great if they could create their OWN Roblox game? Well, The Coder School Berkeley still has space in our 4-Day Roblox Remix Winter Break camp (for kids ages 9+) the week of December 30 to January 3 (no camp on New Year's Day) that we think your child will love!
Roblox Studio is a platform used by developers all over the world to create the amazing experiences seen today on Roblox. The platform allows campers to focus on the “Game Design” aspect of game development. Instead of worrying about programming a cube or a sphere to be drawn onto the screen, campers can focus on implementing the awesome ideas from their minds. In addition, the Lua programming language is an easy-to-read language that allows developers program unique features into their game using Roblox’s built-in functions.
In this camp, participants will get to create and publish their own Roblox game for the world to play. Campers will spend each day building an Obby (Roblox lingo for Obstacle course) using the amazing Roblox Studio platform. Campers will learn the basics of creating games in a 3D environment. They will also learn about the programming language Lua by modifying pre-programmed blocks to suit their obstacle course needs. On Friday, parents will get to see the awesome creations of their campers.
Campers will learn about the fundamentals of 3D game development and they will get to learn the basics of programming in general. Some of the concepts the campers may learn include:
- Basics of programming (variables, if statements, functions, loops)
- Basics of 3D modeling
- A high level understanding of basic physics concepts (Velocity, Force, Angular Velocity etc…)
- A high level understanding of what a Game Engine is
- Familiarity with the Roblox Studio game engine
- and more!
4-Day Winter Break Roblox Remix camp will be held at The Coder School Berkeley from 9 am to 3 pm Mon-Fri (no camp on Wed, Jan 1) and costs $529. Kids bring their own lunches and water bottles and we'll take care of the rest!
