Berkeley Rose Waldorf School: Come Learn About Waldorf
Berkeley Rose Waldorf School, founded in 2009, is enjoying its 16th year and the first in its new home on Ridgeway Avenue in the Piedmont Avenue neighborhood of Oakland.
Join us for an event this Winter to learn more about our education, whether you're looking for a place for your child for Fall 2025, looking to make a departure from a public or private school that just isn't meeting your child, or your family is just beginning to think about schooling. Here you'll learn more about the 105 year old education designed to foster a better world for all human beings, offered in response to a devastating World War I.
You'll hear about our media-free education, our expansive outdoor time and hike days, our slower approach to academics which gives our youngest children a chance to learn through pre-academic play based learning, and the arts-rich education we are known for. Spanish, music, handwork, orchestra (3rd and up), games/sports, artistic movement (eurythmy) and therapeutic/developmental movements such as rope jumping, ball catching, and sensory integration work help our students prepare to begin traditional academics in First Grade and to desire and enjoy learning at the correct development pace.
Register for an event to see our sweet campus, meet our teachers, see our students in the swing of the school day, at our Spring Open House. Tours are parents only, and the Open House on March 1 is intended for the whole family.
Experience Waldorf Day on January 25 allows adults to become the student for a day. Experience what it's like to be a part of a kindergarten classroom, an 8th grade chemistry class, a second grade painting class, and so on.
