Acting/Drama classes for kids

My child has shown a keen interest in acting. I’m unsure where to begin or what to look for. Does anyone have recommendations on how to kickstart an acting career?

Kids On Camera in SF owned and run by Judy Berlin.  Also, look into local venues that put on plays.  Your child might want to audition for a part.

Christine Mytko, an awesome science teacher, robotics team coach, and improv teacher and performer also runs Tinker Coop for kids ( and adults and families!). In addition to the maker club and robotics classes she offers, she also runs improv classes. The many kids I've spoken to about it have absolutely loved it!

It's physically  based at The Berkeley School but is an independent non- profit.

The Contra Costa Civic Theatre in El Cerrito has wonderful after school acting classes and a great summer camp.I also liked that parking was easy compared to a theatre camp we went to in Berkeley.

You haven’t shared your child’s age. Our kid loves  Berkeley Playhouse. If your kiddo likes musicals, I highly recommend.

Contra Costa Civic Theater in El Cerrito has great after school theater classes as well as a popular summer camp that my daughter and her friends love. They rotate through different productions and each session culminates in a full performance which is a lot of fun! They also offer a separate improv class. You do have to sign up quickly though as sessions sell out.
