Thacher School

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can offer comments, recommendations, advice about Thacher School in Ojai, CA (boarding school) other than what is on their website. Thanks so much.

Wow! Thacher enters the BPN :) I am a graduate of Thacher class of 1990. I had an absolutely wonderful experience there. I attended Berkeley Public Schools until 10th grade when I transferred to Thacher. I was scared that I would feel like a fish out of water but the students were very welcoming and helpful right away. I struggled somewhat academically but with lots of extra help and 1-1 tutoring on campus I was overall successful. I also played sports, rode horses, went camping and participated in many on and off campus activities. I just returned recently and noticed a ton of new buildings and upgrades to old structures and dorms. I missed not seeing my old digs but the new construction is wonderful. we hired an educational consultant when our daughter was considering boarding schools. thacher school was not recommended for our daughter who struggled with maths. consultant mentioned thacher was fantastic and took kids who were very well rounded -- great academically and at sports. definitely worth a visit. judith
