Considering Berkeley Independent Study Program for 5th Grader

Hi - our daughter is a 5th grader at Washington Elementary. She is diagnosed ASD, ADHD, and Severe Anxiety. She's been there since Kindergarten. She is doing fine academically, but is really struggling w/ social emotional behaviors. It's becoming clear that even with the strongest 504 in place, this school setting is not for her.

We have applied for the Berkeley Independent Study program and are thinking this is a really good fit for her. However, we are concerned about being able to effectively instruct on writing and math at home, despite the support of the BIS teacher and curriculum plan we'll receive. We also believe she requires an executive functioning coach to gain some meta learning skills. We're looking for outside help in these areas, part-time, probably 2-4 hours a week each for Writing, Math, and Executive Functioning.

Curious if any parents here a) have suggestions or b) have advice/experience in the BIS program with respect to the at home instruction part in the core academic subjects. Thanks so much in advance!
