Fishing site with equipment rental

Our 5-year old son wants to go fishing, but we don't have any fishing equipment. I searched online and found places like Lake Chabot and Lafayette Reservoir have boat rentals for fishing. Do they also rent fishing rods and other equipment? If not is there any places we can rent them for one day? We don't know if we continue fishing so want to just try once without buying all equipments.

Check out Small World Park in Pittsburg for crawdad fishing! I looooved this place when my kids were little. https://www.pittsburgrec.com/services/parks-and-recreation/swp

Hi! My fiance, 20 month old and I went to Lake Chabot and they do have poles to rent, I can’t remember off the top of my head how much but I want to say about $15. They also have bait, bobbers, etc. it was so much fun!

Yes at Lake Chabot Marina you can rent fishing rods and buy several types of bait in the cafe.  We recently took our 4 yo for her first fishing experience and it was a lot of fun.  You can rent a boat and go out on the lake which is beautiful or you can walk along the shore path too a few piers or access spots to fish.

According to this website, there are rod and reel rentals at Lake Chabot: https://lakechabotrecreation.com/attractions/. We went pre-pandemic and had a nice day cruising the lake and fishing (though we didn't catch anything).

I’m pretty sure San Pablo reservoir rents fishing equipment.

My son and his father took a 1-day fishing class through I think it was REI or else a Parks and Recreation department, where all equipment was provided.
