Help finding someone to convert french doors to single
We have two bedrooms with framed glass french doors that we’d like to replace with regular single doors, as our toddlers stay in those bedrooms. The current doors don’t block noise and light and the kids can easily push them open. Does anyone know a contractor who can handle this type of small project? If you've done something similar before, could you share an approximate cost? Thanks!

We did something similar in 2023. We had a skilled handyman replace a broken glass slider with French doors. It was around $2K for just his part of the work which was removing the old panels, installing the new with a slight amount of framing, and clean up. We bought the new door separately and my spouse did ALL the painting inside and out, as well as keyed it (spouse is pretty handy!). It took the handyman and a helper a full day, like 10 hours or so. They disposed of the old door.
Our contractor replaced interior glass french doors with a single, regular door. I can't tell you the cost of just the door replacement, because it was part of a larger remodel, so things like disposal, painting, etc. were already included. It's not as cheap as just replacing a door (which is also not cheap!), because they have to build out the wall, match the moulding, paint everything, etc. Our contractor was Tony Lopez with Mayan Construction (510)220-1056 and we were very happy with the work he did. Our house is over 100 years old and the work is pretty seamless. He was able to preserve the moulding around the original doors and reuse it on the new door, so it matches perfectly. That being said, for the scope of the project you are describing, I think you would have to expect to pay at least $15k, not including the cost of the doors themselves (we actually bought ours on our own because it was cheaper that way).
