Does it matter when in “Round 1” you enroll in BUSD
Hi everyone,
Im enrolling my son in TK for the fall when the first round of enrollment opens up January 8th. Im wondering if it makes a difference in your lottery school choice (whether you get your first choice or not) if you enroll on the first day it opens or if it’s the same chances of you apply any time within the “round”. Just wondering if I need to be hustling right after the holidays to get it together!

No it doesn't matter. It's a lottery, not first come first served. I didn't register on the first day and we got our first choice.
Doesn't matter! As long as it's before the Round 1 window closes, they all go into the lottery together.
Hi! It does not matter when during Round 1 you submit your application. As long as it is in by the deadline, you'll be processed by the district computer at the same time as the rest of the Round 1 applicants. Good luck!
After the first round, you get what is left over. For TK, there are only a few schools (3, I think). You would need to re-apply for KG again and in THAT school you will stay until the middle school.
I attended the elementary info session last weekend and asked this exact question. I was reassured by one of the people working at the BUSD admissions booth that it does NOT matter when in Round 1 you apply. A request on "opening day" is evaluated alongside requests that come in at the end of the round 1 window.
