Where is the free Halloween event for young children?
Hi parents, I’m looking forward to celebrating my babies first Halloween and wondering if there are any free events for young children in Berkeley? Years ago there was a block party in the neighborhood off College Ave/ Russel St area I think? Wondering if there’s anything still happening like that this year?
Thanks!

There are events in Elmwood, 4th Street and Solano listed below
Also check out Piedmont parade this weekend
🍿 Halloween in the Elmwood is showing a fun animated movie for big kids, Monster House, as well as passing out treat bags to costumed kiddos. Make sure to visit the neighboring blocks to see some swoon-worthy house decorations. Saturday, Oct. 28, 12-5 p.m. for trick-or-treating and 6 p.m.-9 p.m. for the movie. FREE.
🤖 Little kids are welcome to wear costumes and collect small treats from the merchants at Fourth Street Trick or Treat and Halloween Festival. There will also be face painters, scary hair styling, and music. The vibe is usually best for babies through preschoolers, but all are welcome. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 3-5 p.m. FREE.
🍌 All ages are encouraged to join the Halloween on Solano costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for infants through adults. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 3-5 p.m. FREE.
4th street has a parade and street fair, and Elmwood has some sort of treasure map event. Plus, I've heard that Russell street will be doing their usual Halloween thing.
Not Berkeley but close - the Piedmont Avenue kids parade is adorable. It happens before Halloween. I’m not sure what day this year. When we lived on Piedmont avenue, before I had a child, I couldnt wait to bring my future baby/toddler. And then for the first four years of my sons life we went. It is the best.
Yes, the College Ave / Russel St Halloween event is on again this year on Tuesday Oct 31st, and will likely be a very big event like last year (after a couple of years off due to covid). We saw that there seemed to be over a thousand people walking in the neighborhood last year and it was very exciting and positive energy.
