Violin/Fiddle Lessons with Kaila Flexer

Hello!

I'm a violinist, composer and music educator and have been teaching for over 40 years (though I still feel young!). I love teaching and inspiring my students to play with joy and confidence!

I currently have 3 openings in my Oakland studio (in Maxwell Park) for students ages 7 and up. I work with all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players who want to try out some new directions. Adults welcome too!

Rather than following one method, lessons are truly customized to each student according to their musical interests. Through music that excites and inspires each individual, we work on skills such as tone, playing in tune, reading music, playing by ear and all the things that go into being a musician.

Most importantly, we learn HOW to practice. I have started many students from age 7 and take them all the way through high school!

I pull from a wide variety of musical styles from folk styles including Balkan, Swedish, Celtic, klezmer, Sephardic to jazz to Western classical music.

The first lesson is half price! Lessons are in my Maxwell Park studio. I teach Tuesdays-Fridays.
