Going grey gracefully - professional help?
After many years of coloring the grey my dark brown hair, I'm considering going au natural. Can anyone provide advice about options for doing this while maintaining a professional image for the workplace? I'm particularly interested in recommendations for hair professionals in Berkeley/Oakland/Lafayette who might specialize in doing this.

A few years ago I had the black dye stripped from my hair and had my hair dyed a medium brown.I keep going lighter and now my hair is a light brown color,which hardly shows the gray roots.It would be easy to go gray now,but I like this color.I had the original procedure done in Philadelphia.
Hi, my haircutter does magic with color. We did some highlights and low lights as my gray grew in and I maintained a professional look. She is Lida Lahidji at Salon 1757 on Solano Avenue. 510 703 0499. ALL my middle aged friends get their hair cut and colored there. She's fabulous. It took me almost 2 years to grow my hair out after coloring it for 27 years. I cut it shorter, but not super short, to make the transition faster. I wish someone had suggested gradually adding grey and sliver highlights instead of waiting until the grey entirely grew out. I don't have a salon suggestion, but young women are coloring their hair grey/silver intentionally, so there must be colorists out there who can do that for you, if you're interested.

I highly recommend Felicia Simon of Simon Says in Alameda. She blended in my natural dark brown colored low-lights so that the demarcation line between the new growth and the previously colored hair was not at all obvious. That seems to be the best option for the grow-out phase. It turned out beautifully, was inexpensive, and lasted throughout the entire grow-out phase. She's really great, and free parking too! I love my natural hair.
