BlackBox Studios
The mission of BlackBox Studios is to provide high quality dance training in an inclusive space. Artists of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, gender identities, orientations, races, and body types are welcome!
BlackBox Studios is situated by the Laurel District of Oakland, CA near the Dimond and Fruitvale neighborhoods.
My daughter started attending this studio earlier this year and we couldn't be happier with it! The class is taught by a professional dancer who is kind, patient and warm with the children. It is a small local studio so she gets lots of personal attention. I feel as though at some of the larger studios/classes, they focus the youngest kids on looking cute for recital rather than actually learning ballet. At this school my 5-year-old is already running around the house shouting ballet terms I can't even begin to pronounce! The recital was also far more organized and intimate than her last studio. Highly recommend.
