Kids' ping-pong classes or leagues?
–Sep 15, 2024My 10 year old son (5th grade) is interested in ping pong. I'd like to find a class or league for him to join in the east bay. However, I'm hoping to find one that would be fun, not super competitive or high pressure. And hopefully not too far of a drive (we live in South Berkeley). Does such a thing exist?
Sep 15, 2024Public ping pong tables in Berkeley?
–May 2, 2023We live in North Berkeley and our daughter loves to play ping pong/table tennis. On weekends, we've been going to King Middle School which has two tables open to the public but only on weekends.
Are there other tables,.e.g. in public parks or other venues that are available on weekday (afternoons)?

Berkeley Table Tennis Club has a Friday evening round robin tournament at James Kenney Rec Center in Berkeley. $5 a session for kids, $8 for adults. My son started going in 5th grade and still goes occasionally (he's now in 7th). It's mostly adults, but there is usually a small contingent of kids there too. We found folks to be very welcoming, and they do a good job of flighting people so you are playing against opponents at an appropriate skill level.

WePerform on San Pablo in El Cerrito! They have a ping pong club and ping pong camps. My kid did a half day camp there this summer and it seemed like it was all fun and very little competition, if at all. Some kids were more serious that others, but I think its exactly what you are looking for.
Hi, I was looking for something similar a couple of years ago for my son. The closest Ping Gong class/league I could find was Fremont Table Tennis Academy with a location in San Ramon.
