College Essay Coach with 18 Years of Experience
Greetings!
You know how every person is really good at one or two things? My specialty is the college essay. I was placed on this planet to coach the personal statement!
After graduating with a BA in English and Creative Writing from Columbia University, I became a high school English teacher. As both a teacher and a writing coach, I’ve spent more than 10,000 hours reading, editing, and commenting on personal statements.
My first step with applicants is to help them organize and outline their thoughts. Next, we work through various revisions. By the end, my clients reveal themselves to be gifted, passionate, real human beings who embrace challenges, attempt to overcome mistakes, and desire to learn, grow, and change.
The many years of coaching, the acceptance letters my students have received, the MA in Literature and Creative Writing, the BA from Columbia--all of this looks great on paper, but it doesn't amount to much without three key strengths: I get along fantastically with adolescents, I've studied the personal statement every year of my adult life, and I am a gifted writer/editor/listener.
