Ophthalmologist / lasik doctor
I had lasik done in just my right eye in Colorado over a year ago. I needed a second procedure 6 mo later because the first procedure left me with one working eye - my left eye. I could not see anything out of my right eye for 6 months. I had the 2nd procedure because it was so bad, praying it would make it somewhat better, and didn’t feel I had much of a choice in that moment.
It made it somewhat better but my vision is still messed up overrall. The doctor kept saying “a few more tweaks” to get it right - each “tweak” had to be 5 to 6 months apart.
I’m now in CA and need someone’s help fixing my vision. I wouldn’t go back to the same doctor even if I was in CO because every single step of the whole process was a nightmare. It even turns out that they should have advised me to NOT have lasik at all because of my age and, as I fully realize now, a prescription that was really not so bad. Also, correcting only one eye has complications they never told me about. Now I’m stuck w not being able to even hike / walk on ground that isn’t completely flat because my depth perception is off .. and several other “minor” (?) issues.
Does anyone have recommendations for a straightforward, serious, honest and caring ophthalmologist (who reslly knows what they’re doing .. sorry, but the CO doc did not know and has messed up my eyes which I now think were perfectly fine, compared to this.
I’d be oh so grateful!
Thank you,
Archana

One very reputable practice where I have gone for several years is Eye Physicians of the East Bay, at the corner of Broadway and Grand in Oakland.
I have seen Dr. Stephen Pascal and Dr. Michael Wang. Both are highly competent, though Dr. Wang is not very communicative. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I suggest the UC Berkeley School of Optometry; you do not need to be employed or enrolled at UC to be seen there.
I used Dr. Scott hyver for my lasik and had great resultd I was sold on the 49ers eye doctor thing so I would definitely check him out.
Ophthalmologist ? --- There's only one for us and our friends: Dr. Leonardo Dacanay, "Bellevue Eye Medical" 1936 University (on opposite corner, across street from Trader's)
ph:(510) 488-6767. He did my husband's cataract surgery (both eyes)... then mine. Affable, personable, super intelligent & warm---Of course, he's respected by other MD's too.
