We couldn't have asked for a more loving, happy, safe environment for our son. He started at 12 months because we felt he needed more stimulation than he was getting with our nanny, and he stayed until 3 yrs old. He just adored Minako and her caretakers! They do so many fun, creative activities with the kids, and they ensure the kids play sweetly with each other. It is a gentle environment, structured around the kids, and the layout is perfect place for young kids, with a sunny, grassy area to play in. She provides a Japanese-style lunch, plus healthy snacks. Times are convenient (8-5:30). You can tell so much thought goes into all they do for the kids. I can't say enough good things about them. Wonderful. I am so grateful to have found them, and will always remember them fondly.

Hikari Day School is a wonderful small family day care. Our daughter attended for 16 months, and we all loved it. Minako Ohara provides loving, creative, safe care in her home. The kids do art, music, outdoor play, reading, learning and socializing. Minako makes healthful, organic food and keeps the space immaculate. Our daughter loved it and we feel so grateful that she had a home away from home while we were at work. Minako was always easy to reach via phone or email and was flexible if we needed to make changes in our schedule. In addition, our daughter has asthma and Minako always stayed on top of her medications and symptoms. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this daycare is. Our daughter's transition to preschool has been very smooth, and I attribute that to the good preparation she got at Hikari. Ann

I would like to highly recommend Hikari Day School. My son, who is 3, has attended Hikari Day since he was 18 mos. old, and my 14 mos. old daughter has gone since she was 6 mos. We are extremely happy with the attention and care our kids receive.

Minako offers a loving home-based environment. She does some preschool activities (art projects, letter recognition, reading time, music) and also gives kids ample freedom to play as they wish with the many indoor and outdoor toys and games available. Both energetic and shy kids can happily fit in there. The best perk is she provides a nutritious, organic lunch for the kids everyday. (one less lunch to pack)

She also has an assitant, Maria, who has been with my son since he was 4 mos. old (we followed her from our first daycare.) She speaks spanish to them and my kids love to follow her around and seem to listen to her better than they do at home. :)
