Reliable auto mechanic for my Honda
After patronizing my terrific, honest and reliable mechanic in downtown Oakland for almost 23 years he has decided to retire. As a result I need a new independent mechanic or garage with hopefully the same traits as my current one to service my Honda. Recommendations for the Oakland-Berkeley area would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

When we lived off Piedmont Ave I went to Young’s Automotive at 3509 Grand Ave - the guy is a bit gruff (not a lot of socializing or hand-holding) but super honest and fair and well-priced. Look it up, there are many reviews from happy customers.

Tony is the boss, and there are various managers. They are honest and competent, though not cheap.
They have a very small garage , lot, and repair bays, so they will need to park your vehicle on the street if you choose to leave it overnight. The neighborhood is "New Chinatown" - not the most upscale, but not the sketchiest, either.

I REALLY like Argonaut Garage on San Pablo in Berkeley, where I have been taking my Toyota prius V for the last several years. I have found Jason to be kind, trustworthy, and reliable. He and his staff treat customers like real people, not just the next number.

Talented mechanics, but beyond that, they're great about not running up the bill, staying honest to what needs doing, and keeping
your car safely on the road. They also spot upcoming needs, listing them on the end / back of your invoice, and do a good job of
