Do You Want a Writing Tutor Who Gets Results?

Here are profiles of some students I tutored successfully for a year or longer:

L. was so shy and monosyllabic that I could barely get a word out of her.  Yet her father wanted me to help her write her essays for college!  Gradually, with patience, empathy, and humor, I coaxed her to open up and talk about her interests. The essays that emerged gave her a voice and the colleges listened.  She is now attending a UC school.

M. was in a crowded  AP English Literature class in a public high school and he wasn't getting regular writing assignments to prepare for his AP Literature exam.  So, I became his writing instructor and  AP exam coach!  He didn't love English, but after a year of tutoring he scored a five on his AP exam.  He went on to study neuroscience at Stanford.

Of course, I can't promise that your student will get into UC or Stanford.  But students who work with me for at least a year craft better essays for their English classes, get higher grades in their English and history classes, and write winning essays for their college applications.

My experience includes more than 25 years of college and high school teaching in the Bay Area.  I graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude in English from Cornell University. I have a Masters in English and a Masters in Reading from UC Berkeley.
