Before and after care at Michelle Obama Elementary
Our kid is due to begin attending Michelle Obama next year and we’re trying to figure out before and after care options.
If I understand correctly, for families that don’t qualify for the YMCA program there is no care available before the 8:30 drop off and the available after care is capacity limited (first come vs lottery?).
How have other families made this work? My wife and I have non-flexible work schedules and will probably have to find another school if we can’t get before and after care at Michelle Obama.

Welcome to Michelle Obama! I have a child going into 6th & 2nd and help with some of the fun, social events at the school. :-) We have found M.O. to be a great school for our girls with dedicated teachers and a fantastic, warm principal Ms. Velez. I can't speak to the after-school program, but for a couple of years our girls have been getting picked up by a sweet lady named Graciela and taken to her neighborhood daycare. Graciela has taken care of kids since they were babies and is very kind, safe and reliable. I can ask if she has room to pick up your child and provide aftercare if you'd like? I do know you can drop your child off for breakfast as early as 8am for some kind of early care. I think the aftercare is first come first serve with strict guidelines about when you can do pick up. Feel free to message me via my BPN username if I can help further. Welcome! :-)
