Expecting Moms Group
Hello! I am wondering if anyone knows of an expecting mothers group in the Berkeley/Albany/El Cerrito area? Even a ‘New Parents’ group, or really anything similar! We are expecting our second child in Nov, and have a son who is currently 15 months old. My last pregnancy occurred during Covid so there were no in person groups, and I feel like I missed out! I’d love to meet some parents in the area, especially some mothers who will have a baby of similar age. I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

Hi there! I am in a very similar stage of life - 2 year old with another due in November - and while I am not in a new parents group, I’ve been attending prenatal yoga at Barefoot Movement fairly regularly which has been great. I am also planning on joining the second time parents group which I read great things about here on BPN (see link below!). I would love to connect directly as well if you’re interested - we just moved to Oakland (we’re in the lakeshore neighborhood) from South Bay, so we’re just starting to meet other families. Jennifer Subasic Marks is a wonderful educator who runs a second time mom group. It was so nice to meet a group of moms who already had another child since the issues are different than the first time around. I can’t recommend this enough! Hi Lauren, my husband and I are expecting our first in November and we are also looking to get to know more new parents! We have joined a virtual support group with our hospital (Alta Bates) but other than that haven’t found much. Let me know if you’d like to get together or find any other resources. I am a part of the B.E.A.R (Berkeley, El Cerrito, Albany, Richmond) mom/family group. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at Arlington Park in El Cerrito. You have to be fully vaccinated to join. I believe this group can be found on BPN.

I just finished participating in this support group (link below) as a first time mom, and it was excellent. Although the facilitated sessions are over, my group still meets! There are groups for second time moms as well.

Highly recommend Jennifer Subasic-Marks groups! She has groups for first time and second time moms. It has been a really nice way for us to connect with local families.
