ATDP computer science
My 14 yr old is interested in attending the Comp Sc ATDP program during summer after 8th grade. Can someone share their past experience? What prior knowledge is required before attending? How much time is spent in homework per day? And does this in any way help with her college applications in future?

It's been about 7 years since my daughter took Computer Science at ATDP, so my information is somewhat outdated. But it might still be useful.
She had zero background in any sort of coding, which was somewhat of a handicap but not insurmountable. The year she took it, all instructors and TAs were male, which was disappointing - she really could have used some female role models and mentorship. She got pretty frustrated with the bro-culture, with unfortunately starts pretty early. But on the positive side, she and the other girls in the class (I think there were a total of 4 that year) all bonded, and worked collaboratively to help and support each other. In the end it was a good experience for her. It sparked her interest, and she will graduate from college next month with a degree in computer science.
