Acupuncture for inducing labor?
Hello Fellow Parents!
I am a soon to be mother and based on my age and basic circumstances, my OB-GYN insists on induction. The more research I do on this subject, the more concerning induction sounds, but I understand the argument and am seeking a more natural/gentle way to start the birthing process. I am seeking a local acupuncturist that has experience in this sort of thing. I live in the Richmond area, and my birthing center is in Berkeley, so someone around there would be best.
Any recommendations?

I love Naya for all things pregnancy. I've been seeing her for years. She's in Oakland near Lake Merritt but couldn't recommend her more. https://www.nourishingpoints.com/
I highly recommend Rachel Alkire at Grow family Acupuncture on solano in Albany. She is delightful and supportive. She really helped me prepare for the birth of my child. http://www.growfamilyacupuncture.com/
Hey CJ - in a similar boat! Aimee Ruiz on Grand Avenue is great and specializes in fertility and pregnancy. Highly recommend her.
Good luck and trust your gut.

Hi,
I see a really good acupuncturist in Albany. Her name is Laura Aguiar 510 684 4300. I've seen her for all 3 of my pregnancies. I'm currently 36wks pregnant and 42 years old. I birthed my first two babies at Pacifica Maternity in Berkeley. This acupuncturist came recommend by them. Let me know if you have any questions. I also do doula work (when not pregnant) so clearly I like to talk all things childbirth & babies. And I'm an absolute advocate for natural child birth. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!
I had a similar experience (age and not wanting to induce). Great acupuncturists for this are at Tao to Wellness on Hearst St at 4th St. I also ended up consuming castor oil per my doula’s recommendation which definitely worked. Happy to talk more about my experience if helpful.
Hi,
I worked with Ann Weiss to help induce, have worked with her previously for other things, including fertility. Highly recommend her, located in Berkeley.
here is her number: (510) 318-0423
best wishes to you!
Mitchell family accupuncture- Nina or Allison :)
all the best! I had a similar situation.
Dr. Heidi Kao at Integrative Wellness Center in Temescal is a wonderful, wonderful practitioner. I highly recommend her for all things related to women's health.
I hope you’re able to find someone!
If it helps with your concerns, I went into labor naturally with my first and was just induced with my second baby. Personally I preferred induction. In my experience it was nice to be in the hospital, have things scheduled, and it was painful but manageable.
Greetings and congratulations on your pregnancy. I noticed that you mentioned birthing center so I am curious if there are any midwives or Doula‘s there to help guide you along this process. I would suggest using multiple modalities. Acupuncture. Acupressure. Moxibustion. Nipple stimulation. Sexual stimulation. At what week are they suggesting you get induced if you don’t mind me asking.
I offer these suggestions as a prenatal yoga teacher and mama who birthed three children out of the hospital:)
blessings to you, your pregnancy, birth, and parenting journey.
Hi,
I have been going to a very good acupuncturist in San Francisco (about a 20 min. drive from Richmond), Dr. Jenifer Ashby, who has extensive experience with all kinds of women's issues (pregnancy/fertility, "that time of the month", menopause), and many more. She practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). This is one of my favorite acupuncturists; highly recommend her! Having said all that, I need to admit that the issue I've been going to Dr. Ashby is NOT pregnancy related Here is the Yelp link:
