Phimosis diagnosis teen boy

Our 16 year old son was diagnosed with phimosis. His pediatrician prescribed steroid cream but the kid isn't great about following directions, hence the results haven't been great. I'd love to hear from other parents who have had experience with phimosis, as well as what you've done to help your child, or even yourself if you are the patient. Thank you.
