From: Mari
on used kids' ski clothes: the goodwill store on university between milvia and oxford has a pretty good selection of them in all sizes.

You might check Ross stores. Last year I got a nice down jumpsuit for my six year old son for only $35, at Berkeley Ross. It is hit or miss, but this is the time of year to look.

I found some used snow clothes right before Christmas (the height of the ski season!), at two used clothing shops in Walnut Creek: the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop, and Katie's Closet. The selection and prices at Katie's Closet were better.
It's possible but it will probably negatively affect the ability of the ski pants to keep water out. I know there is a place right next to REI in berkeley that does gear repair, they could probably point you in the right direction of someone. It would be really hard/impossible to hem the ski pants and do it in a water that kept the seam against snow/water.
Amara @ Sunrise Cleaners just N or El Cerrito Plaza is a mending and alterations whiz!
If Narain's Outdoor Gear Sewing & Fabric Repair near REI can't do it then probably nobody can. Family owned business, ask for Billy and he'll tell you whether they can help! Phone: (510) 527-2509.
I recommend Narain’s. They recently beautifully repaired a 4” rip in my daughter’s Gore-Tex ski parka.
Their hours are very limited, open Friday and Saturdays midday.
They are very friendly, kind, helpful and affordable!
