  • Hi there.  My son needs to choose a new Kaiser doctor, ideally in Pinole (Richmond also is fine).  Dr. Tay in Pinole looks good from his online profile, but I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts they'd be willing to share.  Many thanks, if so!  (Or, if you have someone else to recommend, I'm all ears.  We'd like a personable, knowledgeable, male family-medicine doctor who doesn't mind giving reasonable amounts of advice by e-mail, can work with a very shy teen who's not eager to talk about medical issues, and is willing to refer things to specialists when necessary.)

Dr. Tay is the primary for both my son (17) and my husband. He is patient, personable and fun, explains things well, and communicates easily by e-mail. Guessing he can easily do telemedicine appointments (highly recommended these days!) He gives options and does not immediately push for tests or treatments - but has written prescriptions when needed. We like him a lot!

  • Does anyone have a primary care doctor in Internal Medicine at Kaiser they really like?  Looking for someone who listens and is thorough in evaluations and explaining treatment options.

I just discovered Dr. Sarin who is new to Kaiser Pinole. He's got 20 years of experience, he listens carefully, and I trust him to work with me and my health issues. I think he's still taking new patients

Our longtime family medicine doctor at Kaiser Pinole left recently and my husband switched to Dr. Sarin who has been great. My husband has chronic health issues and has been really happy with Dr. Sarin so far. We are pretty much equidistant to Berkeley or Pinole, though. The nice thing about Pinole is that it is really easy to get to (as long as you aren't going during evening rush hour heading East on 80) and there is always plenty of parking.

I absolutely LOVE my Pinole Kaiser MD.  I can recommend her very highly.  Her name is Dr. Abalos-Merino.  I hope you can get hooked up with her.

I see Dr. Sarin in Pinole. He's actually great, quick responses to email, always reviews my chart, and gently guides me to better self-care. He's new to Kaiser 2 years ago with many years of experience under his belt.

Kaiser Pinole or Oakland doctor recommendations

Dec 2011

We are going to be covered by Kaiser starting in January, and would really appreciate recommendations for primary care doctors for adults and teenagers. We live in El Cerrito, and can go to the Pinole or Oakland offices. From what we've seen traffic and parking-wise, Pinole seems like an easier site to visit, but there aren't as many practioners there. Thanks! Laurie

I've never been to Oakland but the Pinole location is new and super convenient. I have been with Kaiser for a couple of years now and see Dr. Nyunt. I am in my mid forties and my daughters ages 21, 19, 16, all see her too. She is good about phone consultations and prescribing meds over the phone and has also responded to my direct emails quickly. I am pretty healthy and don't need the doctor too often. Sometimes doctors are full and not taking on new patients, but if she is I would recommend her for basic stuff. Pleased with Kaiser so far

Re: PCP recommendations (Kaiser Richmond or Pinole)
My doctor at Kaiser in Pinole is Jahanrad Yadegar and I couldn't be happier. He's easy to talk to, thorough and is an excellent doctor. Larry L.
