Visiting Panama

Anyone been to Panama lately?

We are thinking of going to Panama over the winter holidays. We have two kids, ages 11 and 12, and are looking for recommendations of places to stay and things to do. I'd love to hear of anyone's recent adventures there. Thanks, Helen

About 2 years ago my husband and I went on Vacation to Panama and loved it! We didn't have kids yet, but some things that might be great to check out would be to watch a boat coming through the Panama Canal, and to hike in the big park in Panama City. It's a nature preserve right within taxi distance of downtown - we saw all kinds of wildlife and had a great view of the city from the top.

Mostly though, I liked Bocas Del Toro much more than Panama City! We took a flight to the islands and spent about a week there - hiring water taxi boats to take us to different beaches each day. There's lots of snorkeling, and monkeys in the trees. Plus some great spots to relax and drink smoothies - and you can rent cruiser bikes for the day and ride around the island as well. I think for preteens it would be a really fun vacation! Sarah
