I have a wooden chair with caned seat and back.  The caning on the seat is beginning to separate from the wood frame.  Can anyone recommend someone who repar this well in the East Bay?  I am in Berkeley, but willing to travel for the right artisan.

    • Have you tried the Caning Shop on Gilman?   I've used them a few times and they're quite excellent.  They've been in business for years and have an outstanding reputation.  https://www.caning.com/

Looking for a place to have two very old chair seats re-caned. Would like an excellent job without museum prices. Possible? Thanks! Linda

THE place for caning is The Caning Shop, 926 Gilman, Berkeley, 527 5010. They're completely knowledgeable, reasonably priced, and the store is interesting, too. Linda
