  • Hello, do you have any feedback about your recent experience with Guidepost Montessori Emeryville (immersion or regular)? We would love to hear about your experience! Thank you in advance!

Our son (now three) started at Guidepost when he was 2. We were actually only there for ~4 months because we then got into another Montessori preschool that was closer to home and originally our first choice. We were in the non-immersion (English speaking) classroom. Our experience with the teachers/guides was very positive - they demonstrated a lot of care, and we believe the school navigated the pandemic as best they could and were very reasonable. And relative to our current school, we love that Guidepost doesn't have breaks or days off throughout the year... that consistency is really helpful as working parents and is perhaps the biggest pain point we have currently. We also liked that we got very regular photos and updates.

But on a relative basis, the work stations and activities at our current preschool exceed what our child experienced at Guidepost (e.g. the kids get to bake/cook every day, themes change regularly, much larger outdoor space with more hands-on guide led activities). Also, Guidepost is the most expensive preschool tuition I have seen in all of the East Bay... (can be partly justified given no school closures). On the plus, we liked that there is no commitment really, just a 30 day notice to withdraw your kid - vs our current school, you are committed for the full year (and can take out insurance to recoup some of the tuition fees, but not all, should you leave early) - so Guidepost was a great option for us to start while we were awaiting openings elsewhere.

    Hello,

I am strongly considering guidepost for our 14 month old. We would love to hear from any parents with children enrolled about their experience.

    thanks!

I’m a parent of 2 Guidepost kids... one has graduates and one is still in it. We have loved our experience with the school! The teachers are wonderful, the quality of education and support is excellent... we have seen our children thrive here. The pandemic was difficult on everyone, but we have seen Guidepost make some very positive and thoughtful changes, and overall we have felt very safe sending our kids there.

  • Hi Parents,

Does anyone have experience with Guidepost Montessori they are willing to share?

I am a current parent at Guidepost Montessori in Emeryville, who has experienced every program (Nido - Toddler - Children's House). I highly recommend this school! The classes are small enough in size that each child gets a very customized experience, excellent one-on-one attention with the guides. The structure of the Montessori approach feels appropriate for each age, and I feel that my children are thriving and developing a love for learning. I am also incredibly grateful for the school’s approach to the Covid-19 situation. It has been a very thoughtful response, and they have done their best to engage with the children virtually while the school is closed. I highly recommend this school.

I have a child in their toddler English class, and about to have my second child join as well. It’s really accommodating of working parents (extended hours, minimal days off, great communication through phone and/or email) and I feel my child is engaged, learning new things, and well cared for. I’ve recommended the school to friends.

  • Hello!

Wondering if anyone can speak to their experience at the school since they changed management and are now Guidepost. I definitely heard mixed reviews on Le Port, but toured Guidepost and it seemed great.

    Thanks!

I am looking at a preschool in Emeryville called Guidepost Montessori but cannot find any reviews for it. Have any of you heard of it and have any information or feedback that you can offer? Thank you!

[Moderator note] Guidepost Montessori is a new school and its license is still pending (view basic info on BPN). Guidepost's owner is listed as LePort, which owned the preschool that previously occupied the site.

LePort was a costly mistake for our family.  In the time that our 1st grader was there, the main teacher quit or was fired, innumerable problems with bullying and Chinese language immersion for non-home-Chinese-speaking students, and generalized lack of organization on behalf of the Administration in general.  I would steer clear.
