As first-time parents, we can scarcely find the superlatives to express how glad we are to have enlisted Linda for those challenging first two weeks when baby came home. It’s not just that Linda helped us get vital sleep and recover. She also brought a wealth of experience on feeding/soothing babies and a calm, kind demeanor that helped us build confidence. She repeatedly gave advice that a pediatrician later echoed. We also genuinely loved chatting with her and learning from watching her in action, and she suggested resources/schedules that we'll continue to use in the future. We’d recommend her to anyone!

I can't say enough good things about Linda. As a first time mom, bringing our son home for the first night was overwhelming. My partner and I do not have family close by, nor do we have a ton of experience raising a newborn. In came Linda to the rescue. Linda started the night we came home from the hospital and immediately set our minds at ease. She is the perfect combination of experience/know-how and compassion. She helped us create the conditions for our son to sleep well. She coached us on schedules and feeding practices and she helped me navigate early breast feeding challenges. And honestly, she's a joy to be around. I spent lots of time getting to know Linda in the wee hours of the morning while feeding my son ...and she's a lovely, charismatic, brilliant woman who helped to build my confidence as a new mama while I recovered from a C section. Linda was with us for about 10 weeks and we always looked forward to her walking through the door at night. I was very sad when our contract was up, but also felt as though Linda helped my partner and I become the parents we want to be! And our son is a very happy little guy getting lots of good rest! Highly, highly recommend Linda!

Having Linda join us for out first three weeks as new parents was one of the best decisions we made. From the first time we met her on a video call, we knew right away that her calm, kind and very down-to-earth energy was exactly what we were looking for. Both my partner and I learned so much from her modeling and actively teaching us different aspects of infant care that we would otherwise be clueless about. It made a huge difference to be able to maximize our sleep that first week home from the hospital with Linda’s help overnight, and be able to transition into this whole new role of parenting while feeling supported and not in total zombie-mode! Linda’s doula and personal parenting experience was invaluable when we had questions (and we had many), and we appreciated her perspective/input. She is respectful of different parenting types/decisions and doesn’t push her own opinions but works with you to figure it out. She is also just a very pleasant person to be around and has a great sense of humor. You will not regret hiring her as your doula for your growing family!

Newborn Nightcare ? (Mar 11, 2021)

Highest recommendations for Blandina Masalu 925-752-0918 and Linda Bradley 510-326-4312... call or text.  We had a wonderful experience with both of them.

I would like to recommend Linda Bradley as a postpartum doula/night nurse. I am a single mom by choice and Linda was a true lifesaver in the weeks after my son was born. She was so calm and reassuring—I trusted her immediately to take care of my baby while I got some very much needed sleep. She is incredibly gentle, very kind, and definitely has a way with newborns! I highly recommend Linda!

I highly recommend Linda Bradley as a night doula. She has a calm, reassuring presence that instantly makes everyone in the room relax. She was friendly and a pleasure for both me and my husband to work with. We were very comfortable having her in our home and she was amazingly quiet- it was hard to even know that she was in the home. She was willing to work with me by bringing baby to me when he woke up (for breastfeeding) or letting me sleep through and feeding him pumped milk. She would keep detailed notes, help with things like kids laundry, sterilizing bottles and pump parts, and even made me a delicious breakfast in the morning. She is very experienced and has a knack for finding tricks to help newborns stretch their sleep to longer periods, and shared these with us so we could use them to help baby sleep longer the nights she wasn’t there.
We enjoyed working with her so much after our son was born that we hired her a second time when another son was born!

We can’t recommend Linda enough. We are first-time parents and Linda was with us for the first three weeks of our daughter’s life. It was incredibly helpful to have her guide us through the transition to parenthood. She is calm, competent, very thoughtful. She truly has a gift with babies. It seemed like our daughter was instantly soothed anytime Linda picked her up. She was truly a pleasure to have in our home.

Congratulations!  It's an amazing relief to have night help if it’s financially feasible for you. Makes such a difference in sanity in the early weeks when everything is overwhelming and new and the baby is waking so frequently. To limit costs, you could get help just for the first few weeks, or limit the help to a few nights a week. The going rate when I researched this in October 2018 was around $35- $50/hour.  Most night doulas work an 8 hour shift (10p to 6am or similar). One that I spoke with worked 10 hours. If you are nursing, the night doula brings the baby to you and then handles the diaper change and gets the baby back to sleep. If not nursing then you could have 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep.

I wanted to recommend two WONDERFUL, calm, and loving night doulas who took turns helping me several nights a week with my infant from her first night home until she was about 3 months old.  Linda Bradley 510-326-4312 and Blandina Masalu 925-752-0918. Call or text. They are east-bay based, but they also will work in the city. Both can work with twins. For a single baby, Linda’s rate is $35/hour, and Blandina’s rate is $32.50/hour.

I had found Linda originally through a BPN posting. She was busy during the time I needed help, so she brought Blandina on for the nights she wasn't available. One night Linda arrived early so I could go to an event, and when I watched her begin to do the bedtime routine... I realized I had been doing it all wrong! Baby went right to sleep with her skilled care where she typically had been struggling when I was trying to put her to bed. Blandina isn't as outgoing as Linda, but she is AMAZING with babies and is so loving, careful, and knowledgable. She had key insights into my daughter's behavior and she taught me so much about newborns.

Night doulas will require a contract and a deposit.  Ask about the terms... if you end up needing less help than you initially anticipated, what are the consequences for the deposit? If you need more help, could she be available to do additional nights or could she bring in a second person to help?
