How to Find Summer Camps

For the past 29 years, the American Association of University Women, Oakland-Piedmont Branch, has been offering a Summer Camps and Programs Fair as a community service at no charge to the public. It is an excellent way for parents to learn about summer programs and activities in the Bay Area and beyond. Over 100 vendors participate. The fair is on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the Scottish Rite Center on Lake Merritt in Oakland. It will be open from 1:00 until 4:30 p.m. to parents and pre-school through high school age children. I just found, even at this late date, a summer camp for my son through Student Camp and Trip Advisors (SCATA), which is a free service to parents. They find and research overnight programs for students ages 7-18. This includes overnight camps, teen travel, wilderness and community service programs, touring and cultural exchange programs all over the world, college campus programs, fine arts camps and schools, ranches, farms, sailing and SCUBA program. SCATA works with over 700 programs, all of which have been visited and checked out by at least 2 of the SCATA representatives who are located all over the US, Canada and Brazil.
