Aurora Middle School is currently accepting applications for grades 6-8 for the 2025-26 school year and current transfers. We host regular tours on Thursday mornings from 8:45-10:45am, and we can schedule in-person or online information sessions at your convenience any time. Aurora is a small, progressive K-8 school in Upper Rockridge which fosters challenging academics and critical thinking with a focus on social justice. Social-emotional learning is essential to our curriculum, with an emphasis on self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Our Middle School curriculum features six-week Quests in humanities and STEM which begin with essential questions like, “How can we prevent and respond to discrimination?” or “How can the study of nature inform robotics?” Students draw from daily lessons to explore these questions, together with guest speakers and off-campus Wednesday excursions. Integral to their studies is the Design Thinking process, collaborative working skills, and the creation of culminating projects such as; activist art, robots, novel writing, podcasts, and presentations. Students in different grades share learning spaces for most classes, with a rotating curriculum to ensure that nothing is repeated. They have daily Advisory to provide a safe space to share their feelings, and are given opportunities to serve as mentors for students in grades K-5.
In the afternoons, students' learning is further enhanced with specialist classes such as math, academic advisory, library, Spanish, art, band, drama, cooking, yearbook, woodworking, physical education, and optional after-school sports.
Flexible tuition is available.
