Sees the Day Camp: Counselor Opportunities for 12-16 year olds!
Sees the Day, proudly celebrating its 26th summer, is an outdoor value-based teaching program for children ages 6-11. Counselor in Training positions are available for interested teenagers in the 12-16 year age range.
Sees the Day is committed to instilling in children a respect for and appreciation for each other and the natural world. Building strong connections, individual character, and personal awareness through theme-based activities and ethical dialogues are the primary focus of each session. Guest educators and performers, theater/improvisation, music, cooperative games, team building exercises, nature awareness, eco-literacy, Ohlone history, beading, fairy houses, fort building, lake hikes, gratitude circles, and classic laughter filled summertime fun will round out a dynamic experience for all.
Currently there are 5 camp sessions to choose from: June 9-27, July 7-18, July 21-August 1, August 4-15, and August 18-22. *You may register for a less than the total number of weeks in a session if space permits.
Drop off and pick up occurs daily in Tilden Park at the Carousel Picnic Site. Approximately 30-32 children will attend each session. Each day begins at 8:45 a.m. and lasts until 4:30 p.m. Earliest drop-off is 8:30 a.m. Extended Care is available from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
It’s not stressful, and designed to be a low-pressure learning environment, relaxed and fun! Counselors participate in every aspect of the weekly program and will receive exposure to some interesting presentations and teachings while providing support with free play, circle activities and time spent exploring the unique environs of Tilden Park. In addition, they’ll develop their leadership skills. Counselors regularly report that this was a unique and valuable growth experience for them!
This experience looks good on your teenager’s extracurricular activity resume. Following their assignment, and upon request, I provide letters of recommendation which can be used for independent high school applications, future employment opportunities and college applications.

“I would never have found my passion for the environment without your steady mentorship and wonderful example. Thank you so much for everything you've done for me and the next generation of kind, mindful younglings. That's what has always drawn me back to Sees the Day year after year, and why I will continue to come back. Your love for the environment, people, and your kindness is truly, as many people say, contagious.” ~Reilly Manton, Lead Counselor
“Kirk… Wanted to thank you SO MUCH for another beautiful camp experience filled with sweetness, learning, peaceful play, and lots of love. You really create magic! Thank you for everything!” ~Melinda Kramer, Parent
“I don’t know if you remember me. My name is Amelia Bond and I attended Sees the Day from 2010-2015. I’m 17 now and applying to college. Writing my essays has made me realize how much of an impact Sees the Day had on me. I remember being taught about mindfulness, human’s impact on nature, and the importance of expressing gratitude and being kind. I think about these values on a near daily basis, and they’re an integral part of who I am today. I just wanted to write and thank you for helping teach children such wonderful skills, that they’ll hopefully, like me, carry with them for their whole lives.” ~Amelia Bond, Camper
