Hello, Berkeley and Bay Area Parents,

My name is Mark, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#13357) based in Oakland. I came to this work after decades of working with children and adults with diverse learning and emotional needs. Healing and growth are what I live for :)

We’re all doing the best we can, but sometimes we need new skills and new approaches to do better. I partner with clients to cultivate emotional regulation strategies for people who experience overwhelm, and build new tools to build a life worth living. Within the framework of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness, counseling can help people to sit with and honor their feelings, make peace with distress, and examine the best choices available to us and bring us closer to our goals and values. DBT is a skills-based form of counseling. Clients leave sessions with concrete practices that help them to regulate feelings and navigate their challenges. 

Some of the populations I’ve partnered best with include:

• Teens and adults who struggle with reactivity and overwhelm, and people who experience with self-harming behaviors
• Neurodivergent kids, teens, and adults
• Queer, gender-nonconforming, and transgender youth and adults
• People who’ve considered entering an Intensive Outpatient Program, or who have graduated from IOP’s, PHP’s, and hospitalization
