Hayward Area Historical Society: Education Assistant Part-Time, nonexempt $20/hr
The Hayward Area Historical Society (HAHS) is looking for a part-time education assistant to help with our children’s programs. Responsibilities include: conducting school tours, coordinating school tours with teachers and volunteers, developing children focused programs, managing our education trunk program and assisting with curriculum development. Other tasks related to HAHS’ ongoing outreach efforts and programming may be asked of this position as well.
Position reports to the Education and Outreach Manager.
The ideal candidate:
• is looking for a part-time only position
• has experience working with children
• willing to take direction but also be a self-starter when necessary
• capable and willing to make “cold calls”
• enjoys and is interested in history
Particulars:
The position is funded for 24 hours per week. Most Saturdays are required to be a work day, but other days and hours worked are flexible.
Working knowledge of California history or museum education practices is helpful but not necessary.
Curriculum development, classroom experience, or previous work with children is a plus. Expectation is to be on site at the HAHS facility in downtown Hayward as well as both our historic houses.
Must have a vehicle.
Able to lift 25 pds
