Would your child benefit from therapy?

While tantrums and other challenging behaviors are typical in early childhood, their frequency and intensity can be a clue that additional support may be needed.  Ask yourself whether the behaviors you notice are impacting your child’s capacity in the following areas:

  • Relational: Are they seeking attention from you, other family members, and caregivers in healthy ways? Are they showing that they feel a close bonds with others? Are they interacting in ways you’d expect for their age?
  • Emotional: Are they experiencing a range of emotions, e.g. happiness, sadness, frustration? Are they able to recover with your support when feeling sad or frustrated?
  • Developmental: Are they making progress in learning new skills? Are they increasingly able to navigate the world around them? If they are in school, are they adapting well to the school environment?

If these questions have led you to suspect that your child may need additional support, we want to start by saying – that is ok! Most families will experience difficulties from time to time and may need a helping hand.  The Center for Early Childhood Connections is a nonprofit that provides relationship focused, culturally attuned and collaborative educational, mental health and wellness supports starting from pregnancy through age 8 for young children and those who care for them. Our clinicians provide therapy and support for children and their caregivers at home or in our office as well as school based observational assessment, developmental screening, support/ skills groups and consultation.
