Summer & Holiday Camps Now Enrolling
City:
Berkeley
Ages:
Teens, Young Adults, Adults

Berkeley's College of Environmental Design has still some spaces available for the Design + Build Day Camp. This camp is designed for for 14 and 15 year olds (entering 9th and 10th grade). The day camp will take place every day for two weeks from June 17 to 28, 2024 (except June 19th, an academic holiday). Hours are from 9AM-4PM on the UC Berkeley campus.

Young high school students will imagine, design, and build a mini golf course using state-of-the-art tools in the College of Environmental Design’s wood and metal shop and digital fabrication lab. You collaborate on a small team to create one mini golf hole. Get creative with themed environments, tunnels, bridges, buildings, windmills, tubes, ramps, characters and other engaging elements and obstacles.

As a Design + Build Camp student, you will:

  • Engage in college-level design thinking and communication skills
  • Level up your maker skills by learning how to use professional woodworking and metalworking equipment.
  • Explore digital fabrication software and tools
  • Create a complete project from initial idea to finished object
  • Develop STEM skills
  • Collaborate with other creative teens
  • Experience a college campus
  • Receive a certificate of completion from UC Berkeley

Your instructors teach architecture college students during the semester and have ample experience teaching high school students as well. You’ll learn about multiple aspects of architectural design and how to conceptualize and communicate your ideas in both 2D and 3D, while meeting and collaborating with students with similar passions. Engage in a transformational learning experience and explore how design might fit into your future.

Also note that the College of Environmental Design offers Architecture + Design summer programs for current college students and young professionals. You find details on the CED Summer program website.
